ウキウキ NihonGO! Lesson #20 Q&A Part 5
Welcome to Uki Uki NihonGO! + Culture
Q: Is "boku" only for use by men?
A: While "boku" is primarily used by men, it could be heard by females on rare occasions. However, words such as "I" and "you" are often omitted in Japanese.
Watashi - most common form of "I", it is gender neutral and polite
Boku - mainly used by boys and some men, rarely used by girls (possibly used to sound more "boyish")
Ore - used by men, most "unfiltered" (similar to "guy talk", used among peers, very casual)
