After Trump-Kim Summit 2: Trilateral Policy Coordination on the North Korean Nuclear Issue
The threat of the DPRK’s nuclear weapons and missiles program is an area of common concern to the U.S., Japan and the ROK. Yet trilateral alliance cooperation has recently been challenged by deteriorating Japan-ROK relations, as well as doubts about the long-term US commitment to the region and to its traditional alliance posture. With the ROK’s focus on intra-Korean rapprochement, Japan’s critical concern over North Korea’s short and medium-range missiles, and uncertainties over the possible results from the Trump-Kim summit in Vietnam, the risk of misperception and miscalculation is high. Join our experts as they assess the prospects for trilateral cooperation on the North Korean nuclear issue after the collapse of the Trump-Kim summit.

Yasuyo Sakata, Professor of International Relations, Kanda University of International Studies
