Feature: Togetsu-kyo Bridge
The bridge over the Katsura River which flows through the center of Arashiyama, is about 150m in length. Togetu-kyo, meaning “The moon crossing bridge” was given its name by the Emperor Kameyama in the Kamakura period. When he was on the boat in a full moon night, he thought the moon looked like it is crossing over the bridge.
