#Ainokura Gassho-zukuri Village is a UNESCO World Heritage village in Toyama’s #Gokayama region, known for offering a quieter, more residential experience than Shirakawa-go. The village is home to around 20 gassho-zukuri houses, some over 300 years old, many of which are still inhabited today.

In this video, I explore the village’s history and architecture, from its steep thatched roofs designed for heavy snowfall to its roots in sericulture, and share an itinerary that includes staying overnight in an authentic gassho-style homestay and taking part in a traditional kokiriko instrument-making experience rooted in local folk culture.
