A quiet stop between Saga and Nagasaki, Tara is a small seaside town known for its open‑air baths and Takezaki crab.

We stayed at @kanigoten ( PR ), a renovated resort right on the bay, where dinner is a spread of seafood and Saga wagyu, and mornings begin with the tide rolling in ????

My recommended stops nearby:

• Yutoku Inari Shrine in Kashima, take a hike to the Okunoin in the mountains behind the main shrine, and you’ll be treated to some great scenery.

• The famous fruit-shaped bus stops in Isahaya, Nagasaki. These actually start right across the bridge from the hotel!

• Tara’s floating torii gates at Ouo Shrine, your scenery will change with the tide, but this quick pit stop makes for a great photo op!
