This is the cover of Zhane’s debut single and US Top 10 hit back in 1993, to lead their 1st studio album “pronounced Jah-Nay” in 1994. Performed by an upcoming Japanese girls group BananaLemon who consists of 4 members with multi-lingual/cultural backbone and heavily influenced by 90’s R&B. Produced by STY, one of the most popular producers in J-Pop/K-Pop scene for his works such as award winning Sandaime J Soul Brothers’ “R.Y.U.S.E.I” and Girls Generations’ “MR. TAXI” etc.

HIPHOP/R&Bクラシックスを“イマ”の日本を代表するアーティストがリメイクし現代に甦らせる「ReVibe」シリーズ第４弾。ガールズ・デュオ、ジャネイのデビュー・シングルとして１９９３年にリリースされた「Hey Mr.　D.J.」は、全米シングル・チャート最高６位を記録し、翌年のデビュー・アルバム『Pronounced Jah-Nay』にも収録されたジャネイ最大のヒット。カヴァーに挑戦したのは、メンバー全員が様々な文化的・言語的なバックボーンを持ち、R&B／ヒップホップをベースにパワフルなダンスと圧倒的な歌唱力、世界照準の音楽性で海外からも注目を集める４人組ガールズ・グループ、バナナレモン。今回のカヴァーも含め、三代目J Soul Brothers「R.Y.U.S.E.I」や少女時代「MR. TAXI」など多数のヒット曲を手掛ける日本人プロデューサー＝STYが全曲プロデュースを手掛けていることも話題。
