(字幕あり) To get TV in Japan it is free. You plug it in and its automatically visible, but you have to pay NHK. They come to your door to collect money donations to pay for them. Its required to pay but theres no contract or penalty for not paying, meaning they don't actually turn it off if you dont pay.
In Canada it costs as little as 30$ for tv, but average is 60$. Depending on how many channels. Basic cable doesn't usually include good channels so lots of people pay for extra. Now a days theres lots of salatite tv services in Canada that include hundereds of channels. In Japan I feel the basic tv is more than enough tv for me.
